PRIVACY CHARTER

The purpose of this Privacy Charter is to inform the User about his/her rights and undertakings, as well as about the measures taken by SPB Benelux to ensure the protection of his/her personal data, pursuant to the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Act of 30th July 2018 relating to the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data when using the website at spb.be, referred to hereinafter as the “Site”.

POLICY FOR PROCESSING PERSONAL DATA

I) DATA CONTROLLER

This policy for processing personal data deals with the data processed by SPB Benelux as data controller.

Limited liability company, with capital of 943,087.29 euros, registered with the Crossroads Bank for Enterprises (CBE) under number 0871.620.818, as well as with the Financial Services and Markets Authority (FSMA – www.fsma.be) as an insurance broker, under number 102042A, and whose registered office is situated at 3, Roderveldlaan, 2600 BERCHEM.

II) PERSONAL DATA COLLECTED

Personal data is collected directly from the User, with the User’s consent, and recorded on the Site.

III) PURPOSE OF COLLECTION

Personal data may be collected indirectly as the User browses the Site. The User is invited to refer to the section headed “Policy on the use of cookies”, below, in order to find out more about the purposes and associated rights.

IV) RETENTION PERIODS

The data collected is kept in compliance with the following periods:

  • For statutory obligations, the legal retention period applies
  • For other processing, the period prescribed under common law applies
  • Statistical processing is not subject to a limited retention period, in accordance with the GDPR

V) RECIPIENT OF THE PERSONAL DATA

The personal data collected is intended exclusively for SPB Benelux.

Subject to being required to do so by a judicial authority or by law, or to protect the rights and interests of SPB Benelux, data will not be passed on, shared, made available or sold to third parties without the express prior consent of the persons concerned.

VI) Transfer of data outside the European Union

If personal data were to be transferred and processed outside the European Union, guarantees would be taken to provide a legal framework for this transfer and to ensure a good level of protection for the User’s data.

VII) Security measures for personal data

SPB Benelux takes every precaution and implements all appropriate technical or organisational measures to ensure the security, confidentiality and integrity of personal data, as well as the traceability of the actions taken.

To this end, SPB Benelux takes every precaution required to ensure the security of confidentiality of personal data so that it is not damaged, deleted or that unauthorised third parties have access to it.

VIII) User rights

Users have a right to access, oppose for legitimate reasons, rectify and port their personal data collected and/or processed by SPB Benelux. Users also have the right to delete personal data relating to them, that is inaccurate, incomplete, equivocal, out of date, or whose collection, use, communication or storage is forbidden. These rights are exercised in accordance with the terms defined by the statutory or regulatory provisions in effect relative to the processing of personal data, by contacting SPB by any means that enables Users to establish their identity, such as a letter accompanied by a supporting identity document, dated and signed, sent to the contact details shown below:

POLICY FOR THE USE OF COOKIES

I) WHAT IS A COOKIE?

A cookie is a small file that is registered on a User’s terminal when he/she visits a webpage. The purpose of the cookie is to analyse the browsing data in order to offer the User the most appropriate content to match his/her searches. II) WHAT ARE COOKIES USED FOR AND WHAT TYPES OF COOKIES ARE USED BY THE SITE?

When visiting the Site, the Site stores the User’s IP address and uses cookies to facilitate the User’s visit to the website, as well as improve his/her experience and compile statistics.

These analytical and research cookies make it possible to count visits and to measure traffic for the purpose of enhancing the Site. These cookies also help to identify which pages are the most and least popular and to observe how visitors browse through the Site, as well as to improve the way in which the Site functions and to improve the experience of Users.

All of the information gathered by these cookies is grouped and hence is anonymous.

The User may adjust his/her browser settings to block these cookies or to alert him/her to the presence of these cookies. Blocking these cookies will not affect the service provided.

The User is informed that the Site analyses the performance of the Site via Google Analytics.

The data generated by cookies for use of the Site (including the IP addresses of visitors) is transmitted by Google to servers in the United Stated and stored on them. Google uses this information to evaluate activity on the Site, to draw up reports on Site activity, intended for the exclusive use of the operator of the Site and to supply other services associated with activity on the Site and use of the Internet. Google does not compare the IP addresses of visitors with other information held by Google.

III) THE LIFETIME OF A COOKIE

Cookies have a maximum lifetime of 13 months from the day the User gives consent for them to be used. The User has the option of removing them from his/her terminal at any time, based on the terms detailed in article IV below.
